How do we change, correct, or find a record when the index isn't right?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J8GG-MZ9 was on a campaign. It links to an indexed record for the death or burial of Joseph Grigg, buried in 1770 in Cornwall England. However, when the "original document" is opened, it is to Cornwall records from 1813 forward. It links to the baptismal record of a John Grigg Tretheway, in 1814, I have searched the entire record and can't find anything older than 1813. How can this be corrected?

The records you indicated are titled "England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991". If you search the records, they initially look like records from 1813 to 1900. However, if you search the record more carefully, you will find the burial of Joseph Grigg on April 24, 1770 (it may be 27 April, but to me it looked like 24 April). This is image 1215 of those records. It is important to know that records are not always in consecutive order.

The index is correct. It's only the image association that's slightly off: the link is to image 1285, but the record that was indexed is actually on image 1267 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-67L8-2H?i=1266&cc=1769414). You're warned about the possibility of such a mismatch when you click the "view original document" button.

Oh, I see what your problem may have been: if you somehow end up with the waypointed version of the breadcrumb trail, then the linked image is in the wrong section, and you can't get to the image you need. You need to switch to the whole film version of the breadcrumb trail (so that you're looking at an image counter that says "image __ of 1790") in order to be able to get to the correct image.

What I mean by "breadcrumb trail", whole film version:

You can switch between the whole-film and waypointed versions by clicking the little downward-triangle after the first breadcrumb.
