How are endowments assigned to the various temples from the Shared with Temple File?
I recently submitted a question to Family Search Support. The question was related to my shared with temple file. I asked why was one of my names with a fairly recent initiatory date assigned and completed before some older records. i.e. Leonilda Carolina Manfredi LT5P-V31 with an initiatory completion date of 7-23-2021 had the endowment completed in Logan on 9-23-2021. But Catterina Zeni L2ZH-VM6 with an initiatory date of 9-23-2016 is still waiting along with 19 other female names with initiatory completed before 2020.
The answer that I received from Family Search Support seemed to indicate that assignment of names to requesting temples is random with no criteria for age of record. If that is truly the case then my names could remain in the Shared with Temple file for 20 or 30 years or longer. I will not live long enough to see this file resolved. My family has been working on the names but as I continue to do research and add names the list does not shrink. I have 46 male names in the list with initiatory dates of 2015 & 2016 but not a single name has had an endowment completed. If the selection process is truly random then I would think that at least one name should have been assigned in the ensuing 6 years. Why should it be random? I would think the correct method of assignment would be by first in first out.
That begs the question of why should I continue to do research and submit names if the work can not be completed.

I have removed your personal information from the above question since this is a public forum and we are trying to protect your privacy.
Here are some help articles that may answer your questions about sharing names with the temple. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-long-does-it-take-for-the-temple-to-complete-shared-names Here is another article https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-happens-to-family-names-when-i-share-them-with-the-temple If you want to unshare the names you have already shared with the temple and either do them yourself or have other family and friends in your ward help you do the work, here in article to help you unshare the names that you have previously shared with the temple. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-unshare-family-names-with-the-temple
Hopefully this will help answer your question. As you can see from these articles male names take the longest to get done in the temple. Thank you for contacting FamilySearch. Best wishes as you continue finding records for your family.

Thank you for the references. I do know how to unreserve and print a card for family use and frequently do so.
My question is how does the big computer assign names to the temples when the temples ask for them. It would seem to me that the older submissions should be served first. But in the case I have identified one of my names was served prior to those with submission dates and initiatory dates way earlier. The name was initially submitted 9 March 2020. The initiatory was completed 7-23-2021 and the endowment was completed 9-23-2021. Two months is wonderful, very much appreciated, but why was it chosen instead of some other name with submission in 2015 and initiatory in 2016?

Additionally the article says that the names submitted to the temple file will be assigned to the nearest temple, which for me is Twin Falls.
But the name in question was completed in Logan. So the article is only somewhat correct . I do keep very careful records and virtually all of my female initiatory was completed in Twin Falls. But about 50% of my male initiatory was not completed in the Twin Falls Temple. Of the female endowments completed from September 2016 until the present 22 of 45 names (roughly 50%) were not completed in Twin Falls.
So if all of my pending names were previously submitted to Twin Falls and are languishing there awaiting a day of redemption, then they will likely not be completed until the millennium as a very high percentage (80%+) of the Twin Falls patrons bring their own names.
So I ask again is the system organized such that endowments will eventually be completed.

This article may help as well: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-long-does-it-take-for-the-temple-to-complete-shared-names as a part of that article it indicates the following:
Ordinances that are shared with the temple do not expire. If you have a concern about the length of time it is taking for specific ordinances to be performed, please contact FamilySearch Support. Please provide the ID number of the individual and the ordinances about which you have a concern.
Also, I did find some information yesterday in dealing with another guest. Evidently between 2007 and 2009 if ordinances were shared with the temple some of them got stuck in the system: Here is an article about that: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/my-ancestors-ordinances-were-reserved-between-2007-and-2009-but-are-still-not-done
Also, regarding your concern that ordinances shared with the temple that are going to the Twin Falls Temple there are a couple of other things you can do to help. You can unshare it from the temple and then share it with family members or friends in your ward. Here is an article about that: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-share-my-family-names-with-family-and-friends-by-email
Hopefully that will help with your questions.
I have faith that the ordinances will eventually get done. Sometimes when I have shared with the temple in the past some of the ordinances are done in other temples around the world. I don't know what the algorithms are but it appeared in the past that sometimes other temple's can draw from the endowment "bucket" of shared with the temple and the ordinance is done in one temple and then the next ordinance is done in an entirely different temple. That is just what I have observed in ordinances that I have shared with the temple in the past. I can't find an article about that to verify that but that is just what I have observed.
We are here to help you in any way we can and want your experience with FamilySearch to be a positive one. Best wishes and success in continuing your family history research.

Other people who are also related to the people you shared to the temple file are running Ordinances Ready and they are being given the names of people they are related to for the ordinances they request. This is possibly why you are seeing ordinances done in other temples. This is my experience with the shared temple list.
