    Alan,

Reviewing the record for Lester Viock LTTB-GRP, we see that the ordinances were previously shared with the temple 21 April 2021 then you took them from the temple file names and reserved them yourself on 19 September 2021. After ordinances have previously been shared with the temple and then taken out of the temple system, the person taking them out of the temple system cannot again share them with the temple. When you take them from the temple system, the program assumes that you took them so you could do them yourself or share them with family or friends. The other option is for you to unreserve the ordinances for Lester Viock and let them stay in the possession of the previous person who reserved them in the first place.

If you have other questions about this or other issues, please reply to this message.

Thank you for your dedication and your work.

By the way, you mentioned many pages involved with your temple list and it is known that temple lists with large numbers of names reserved may behave in strange ways so it is suggested that large list owners consider unreserving names and letting other relatives find them and take care of the ordinances. There are many people trying to find ordinances that they can do very soon.

    @AlanBrenholt1

You are concerned about reserved ordinances not sharing with the Temple. Without ID numbers we can not be specific, but two issues come to mind.

Have they been shared with the Temple before? From the Help Center article link below. "  After an ordinance is shared with the temple, it becomes available for other people to reserve. This can be a great blessing for people who want to serve their ancestors in the temple. Note: A name can only be shared with the temple once. If you reserve a name that has already been shared with the temple, you cannot share that name with the temple again. Attempting this will result in an error message."

Did you get them from Ordinances Ready?

    Hello @AlanBrenholt1,

Thank you for your question about temple ordinances being blocked from sharing with the temple.

Would you please give us a Person ID we can look at as an example?

    Thanks so much

Leater Viock LTTBGRP IS the first one on pg 1 of 46 pgs. Perhaps they have all been submitted but they are usually removed from the list when I reserve more. If that is the case then how do I remove those that have already been given to the temple? Sincerely Alan Brenholt

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

In regard, to the "Temple" Work, for Lester T VIOCK ( LTTB-GRP ), that you indicated ...

It would appear that you MAY have obtained the "Reservations" (ie. "I"; & "E") through "OrdinancesReady".

As far as I am aware ...

[ And, I could be wrong; and, I stand corrected if I am ... ]

"Temple" Work, that was ALREADY "Share[d] with the Temple System", by another User/Patron (who is a Member of the Church); and, obtained through "OrdinancesReady", CANNOT be "Re-Shared" with the "Temple System", by the User/Patron (who is a Member of the Church) who obtained such through "OrdinancesReady".

    In NORMAL circumstances ...

Unfortunately, it is a matter of "Waiting" for that "3 Months" period of "Reservation" to "Expire"; and, the "Reservation" will AUTOMATICALLY revert BACK to being "Share[d] with the Temple System".

    But ...

    That Said ...

As I suggested, in NORMAL circumstances ...

This COVID-19 Pandemic, is NOT (well, I should say, was NOT), normal circumstances.

The "Reservations" for "Temple" Work, are NOT "Expiring", according to the NORMAL "Reservation" Period; and, are, in fact, AUTOMATICALLY being EXTENDED, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, until ALL "Temples" are operating under Phase 4.

I would humbly suggest, these (COVID-19 Pandemic) 'Days', that for "Temple" Work, that was ALREADY "Share[d] with the Temple System", by another User/Patron (who is a Member of the Church); and, obtained through "OrdinancesReady", by a User/Patron (who is a Member of the Church), that the "Reservation" will NOT be AUTOMATICALLY reverting BACK to being "Share[d] with the Temple System", after the NORMAL "Expiry" Period of 3 Months.

    And ...

IF, a User/Patron (who is a Member of the Church), obtained "Reservations", through "OrdinancesReady"; and, NO LONGER wishes to proceed with that "Reservation"; THEN, such "Reservation" WIIL need to be manually RELEASED by 'FamilySearch'.

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

Thank you for your assistance and information. When I select individuals to reserve for temple work I only select ones that have a green temple by their names and appear unreserved by anyone. I think the computer during this Covid time is perhaps a bit behind or confused so I will wait and see if changes are made.

    Sincerely Alan Brenholt

    Alan,

The green may mean that the ordinance CAN be reserved by removing from the Temple system but when it is then unreserved from the temple system, you are not able to again share it with the temple. The ordinance then becomes yours to take care of, generally by going to the temple.

A green icon with a temple means that you can reserve it for 2 years and you can share it with the temple file.

A green icon with a clock means that you can reserve it for 90 days and it was already shared to the temple file by another user. You cannot share it again to the temple file as it already exists there. You can only unreserve it if you don't want to do the ordinances yourself.

You can also just leave all the green icons in the Tree, unless you want to do the ordinances yourself. Ordinances Ready will find these green icons. You don't need to search the tree for them and share them to the temple file.

Also, Ordinances Ready will pull names from Temple-shared names if needed to satisfy needs of those requesting ordinances "for today".

Also, the link here describes reserving ordinances that have been shared with the temple: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/someone-shared-my-ancestors-ordinances-with-the-temple-the-temple-has-not-printed-them-can-i-do-them

Can I reserve an ordinance that has been shared with the temple?

Reserving an ordinance that has been shared with the temple does not require any special steps. View the person's ordinance information as you normally would on either the FamilySearch website or the Family Tree app. If a particular ordinance displays a green temple icon with a clock, it can be requested. If the ordinance has a blue temple icon, it cannot be requested.

    IconMeaning

Family Tree Temple Icon 90-Day Reservation

When you reserve an ordinance that has been shared with the temple, your reservation expires in 90 days.

If you are unable to complete the ordinance within 90 days, the ordinance returns to the temple.

    Family Tree Temple Icon Reserved

If the ordinance cannot be requested, it shows a blue temple icon. Here are some reasons why you are not able to reserve the ordinance:

The temple has already printed the name card.

Someone else already reserved the ordinance after it was shared.

Ordinances that come before, such as baptism and confirmation, have not yet been completed.

Thank you all for your help. It is my routine to share all my reserved ordinances with the temple. I think Covid has backed thing up and it will take awhile to get caught up. I am patient and will check in from time to time. Sincerely Alan Brenholt
