Can't reserve spouse's ordinances because they are not related

Hi!

I am helping a member in our ward (Janet Price) reserve the ordinances for their spouse, Rudy Vance Price (G8GW-ZWC), however the system won't let them because they aren't related. They are listed as their spouse in FamilySearch.

Exact phrasing:

(Try to reserve ordinances, select "I Have Permission")

"FamilySearch cannot detect a relationship between you and Rudy Vance Price. Are you related to Rudy Vance Price?"

(Select Yes Radio Button)

"FamilySearch cannot detect a relationship between you and Rudy Vance Price. You must add the relationship in Family Tree to request ordinances."

When I select "View Relationship" on his page it doesn't show anything, but when I select the same thing on her father-in-law it lists her spouse as their connection.

Thanks,

Elizabeth Toller

    Hi Elizabeth

Thanks for the screenshot. We note that there is no marriage relationship. Go to either Janet's page or Rudy's page and add a marriage date. That should take care of the problem. If you are still having problems, private message me with the username and helper number so we can see the records.

When we go to Rudy Vance Price 15 January 1944 – 24 April 2009 G8GW-ZWC, there is no spouse listed. Try adding her as his spouse, hopefully that will enable the ordinances to show her as related.

Hey Deb! The person reserving the ordinances is living, so no one but her and those “helping” her through the planner would see the spousal relationship in the public FamilySearch. From her account and my helper account the relationship is visible.

Ordinances involving the living must be handled by the Bishop. FamilySearch works only with the deceased.

    Good luck.

    Hi Sanra,

The person she wants to reserve ordinances for, her husband, is dead. We are only attempting to reserve his baptism through endowment, no sealings. As she is his spouse and has obviously given permission for these ordinances to be done, there should be no impediment and no approval from a bishop necessary. Obviously that changes once she chooses to be sealed to him.

Here is a screenshot from FamilySearch (viewed by me through the helper) where she is clearly listed as his spouse.
