Mary Ann Boyle

October 1832 – 22 August 1924

 • LVKJ-S31

She has been added with duplicate children. When I merge the children, they are still attached to Mary Ann Boyle but not with Truelove Tinney. Am I doing something in the wrong order or just wrong?

Thanks so much!

    You would then need to remove Mary Ann Boyd and replace her with Truelove Tinney. the process is remove and replace. Find that in the ? inside the circle upper right and then go to the help center and put in remove and replace. Then follow the steps and you will get the problem corrected.

    @BrendaRinehart

    Thank you for reaching out to us today.

    In a brief overview of the children of Mary Ann Boyle (KVKJ-S31) with unnamed spouse and with Truelove L. Tinney (LVKJ-M1R) we noticed that at least part of the problem is that some of the children have different PID's which means they could be duplicates. One further complication is that the second marriage showing with unnamed spouse has to be either removed or verified so the correct children will appear with the correct parents.

    We have attached two very useful articles on merging that will give you step-by-step instructions and how to determine what information is correct and how to proceed to correct this record on your tree.

    @BrendaRinehart

    You want to remove the duplicate list of children from the 2nd Mary Ann Boyd, where she has no spouse listed. It will take several steps, as each child will be removed one by one. Just click on the Edit button next to the child's name, and click Remove, giving the reason about the duplicate, If the ID numbers are the same, and save the change. The article is below:

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-correct-parent-child-relationships-in-family-tree

    Some of the children have different ID numbers, (Amanda and Catherine), you will need to merge the child's record. Write the ID number of the child listed under Mary Ann Boyd, and no father. Go to the Details page of the other child's record, and scroll down to Merge By ID, in the Tools section, click Merge, put the ID number in, and compare the two record, the click continue if they are the same, give a reason, and finish the merge.

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-merge-duplicates-in-family-tree-by-id

    Once all the children are removed from Mary Ann, the box will disappear. You will then be left with only one list of children under the parents.

    Wishing you success.
