Name change.

Hello helpful people. On my FamilySearch Tree I notice that someone has a name of my GGGrandmother - a name and person I have never heard of before. I am pretty sure I have the correct name as she was an English convict and later married - also an English convict -here in Australia. I have their convict records which tells me the information of them being convicts and when and where they were married. How do I remove the name of the woman who I believe is not the correct wife - and add the name of the woman I believe to be the correct wife. With thanks. RRB.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

It is easy to "Change" the "Name" of an individual/person ...

    But ...

    That Said ...

    Before that ...

    A couple of 'Questions':

    (1) Did ANOTHER User/Patron "Change" the "Name" of your Great Great Grandmother?

    (2) Or, was that the ORIGINAL "Name" (ie. "Name" NOT been "Changed") of the individual/person?

The reason that I ask, is that ...

IF, the ORIGINAL "Name" of the individual/person has NOT been "Changed"; THEN, the individual/person may NOT be who you think it is.

And, by a "Change" in "Name", I DO NOT just mean in relation to, BIRTH ("Maiden") Name; and/or, MARRIED Name.

Just want to be sure ...

    Now ...

    That Said ...

    And ...

Just in case you were not aware ...

There is a 'Group' in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, specifically for researching in Australia.

And, just so that you know, you will need to "Join" a 'Group'; and, become a member of a 'Group', to post any 'Questions'/'Discussions'.

The members of a 'Group' would be only too willing to help/assist, where they can

    Here is that particular 'Group':

    'Groups' Section

Home > Groups > Australian Genealogy

    Australian Genealogy

    Description:

A place to ask questions and discuss, Tips; and, Research Techniques, for researching Family History in Australia

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/12-australian-genealogy

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/12-australian-genealogy

I hope this may also help.
