I am indexing a birth register from Sierra Leone—Birth and Death Registrations, 1858–2016 [Part C]

I think there will be confusion with the Registration Number field and possibly the Registration Place.

The field guide says: Type the registration number listed in the registration number boxes. The first column on the register is labeled Number , and the numbers are in boxes down the side of the page.

In example 1 and 2 of the project instructions these numbers are not indexed.

Are we to index the numbers in this batch or mark the field blank?? I have marked the field blank following the example.

The header of the register indicates that the birth took place in the Colony of Sierra Leone. This is also not indexed in the example.

I have marked this field blank also following the example.

Is this the correct procedure for this project?

    My vote:

The field help for registration number say to index the typed number not the handwritten one. I think that's what I would do.

The field help for place similarly say to index it - so yes I would put Sierra Leone.

I don't know why the examples are different - but to my understanding Field Help overrides Project specific intructions?

I don't think that answers the Question. Why does the example show something different??

There are two different types of forms for the birth registration. Which is what you are talking about. The example shows one or the other, but not both forms. So I have the same question. I think we need to talk to the people in charge--whoever they are.

I am also confused about the registration place. For one--why are we indexing the registration place and not the birth place. Two--when reviewing I noticed a lot of people would write Sierra Leon as the registration location, but one I think it is obvious it is in Sierra Leon and does not need to be written. And second I think the directions told us to index the location on a specific line of the form. So I hope I was correct in erasing entries that said Sierra Leon or something like that, but I am not sure.

That is why I asked this question. I was hoping for some clarification. As it had been several days I did submit the batch with the fields marked blank as indicated by the examples.
