Why can we print a Sealed to Spouse name card before the Endowment ordinance has been completed?

When I go to My Reservations I see where Sealed to Spouse for an individual many times is shown in a separate window from the window of the same individual showing what ordinances are yet needed to be completed.

What is the purpose of allowing a SS record to be printed alone. When the card is printed there is nothing on the card letting the sealer know the needed ordinances that are required has not yet been performed?

The sealing is then performed but can not be valid as the other required ordinances are not completed.

Thanks

    Hi @Kenneth Bruce Harmon

You have asked about why you can print and even complete a SS ordinance before the Endowment of individuals is completed. Please read the following knowledge article which is found in our Help Center which explains that because the SS is always on a separate family name card, the system does not know whether the personal ordinances for the individuals involved in the sealing have been done. For years SS ordinances have been provided through extraction which is why you may often seen this ordinances done out-of-order. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/why-are-the-temple-ordinance-dates-out-of-order-in-family-tree

You have asked about the validity of ordinances that are done out of order. These ordinances are valid, however, they do not go into effect until all of the personal ordinances are completed. Again, temple policy from our Help Center database is provided through the following URL: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/ordinances-performed-out-of-order

We hope these knowledge articles are helpful. While the SS is sometimes done out of order, it is best to complete ordinances in their proper sequence when possible.
