The only Directory Place indication for this batch is SALOONS. Should I index that as the Directory Place? It seems wierd that all of these people would habe been associated with saloons.

You can probably look at the reference images and see what is on the next five images and previous five images to see that this is a group of business listings for Saloon owners and workers. (It is kind of like what we think of as The Yellow Pages). Saloon is not a directory place.
