Parents and siblings relationship deleted by someone else -- how do I get the information back?
My husband's 3rd great grandmother's parents have had their relationship deleted from FamilySearch. I re-added the parents, hoping the siblings would come back. They did not, making me believe they also had their relationship deleted. Is there a way to get the information put back correctly? When I looked at the changes, it looks like this happened back in July 2021. We have sources attached -- census records, photos, etc. -- that prove the relationships. I have contacted the person who did the changes to see if they would reverse what they did, and I'm hoping all the information would be changed back, but if there is a way FamilySearch can restore the information that would be greatly appreciated. The grandmother is Malissa Rook, KGMH-1K5, with parents of Willis Rook (KGY4-SNV) and Rebecca Carroll (L5D2-TS9). We did much of the temple work back around 1999 for this family. Please let me know what can be done to correct this situation. I have now put a watch on her. Thank you.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
In the "ChangeLog", I 'see' the 'mess', with what looks like the 'wayward' "Changing" of the Parents, for Malissa ROOK ( KGMH-1K5 ), back in July this Year (2021); and, all the subsequent "Changes" since then, including your restoration of the ORIGINAL Parents of, Father, Willis ROOK ( KGY4-SNV ); and, Mother, Rebecca CARROLL ( L5D2-TS9 ).
In the "ChangeLog", I 'see' the 'mess', with what looks like ALL the 'wayward' "Deleting" of the OTHER Siblings (and, Children), back in July this Year (2021), for Parents of, Father, Willis ROOK ( KGY4-SNV ); and, Mother, Rebecca CARROLL ( L5D2-TS9 ).
And, the subsequent "Merging"/"Combining" of the VARIOUS individuals/persons (ie. Family members)
It will be a matter of 'painstakingly' going through the "ChangeLong" of Parents, Father, Willis ROOK ( KGY4-SNV ); and, Mother, Rebecca CARROLL ( L5D2-TS9 ); and, trying to RESTORE all the Siblings/Children to their pre.July2021 state.
'FamilySearch' very rarely (if, ever) REVERTS past "Changes", by other Users/Patrons.
That is a matter for us; as, Users/Patrons, to 'painstakingly' do the TASK ourselves.
You are not alone ...
MANY; Many; many, of us have ... been there ... done that ... and, still do ...
It is GREAT, that you are now "Watching" (Oops ... Sorry ... 'Old School' ... "Following" ), Malissa ROOK ( KGMH-1K5 ); and , her Parents of, Father, Willis ROOK ( KGY4-SNV ); and, Mother, Rebecca CARROLL ( L5D2-TS9 ).
That way, you can "Check", the "List" of "Changes", for those that you "Follow", on a regular basis.
Personally, I "Check", the "List" of "Changes", for those that I "Follow", on a "Daily" basis.
Instead of waiting for the "Weekly" NOTIFICATION from 'FamilySearch'.
It is quick and easy; and, takes not time at all - especially, if there have been NO significant 'wayward' "Changes", that need IMMEDIATE action.
IF, there have been significant 'wayward' "Changes", that need IMMEDIATE action; THEN, one can be on top of them ALMOST immediately, as they happen.
As an aside ...
Malissa ROOK ( KGMH-1K5 ); and, her Mother, Rebecca CARROLL ( L5D2-TS9 ), are ASLO in my "Ancestral" Lines (ie. They are My "Cousins").
That Said ...
IF, you and your Husband need a 'helping hand'; THEN, please contact me directly; and, I well see how I can help/assist you.
ps: To your Husband ... Hey "Cuz" ...1
@jacklyngood1, I am sorry that some of your family relations have been deleted. I see that you have restored Malissa Rook's parents. Unfortunately, when the parents' relationship to Malissa was deleted, the relationship between all the children and their parents appear to have also been deleted. Therefore, you will need to restore these relationships for all the children.
You can either restore these relationships or, since the individuals were not deleted, you can simply add them again as children - using the option to add the child by ID number. Just for completeness, I refer you to the Help Center article that addresses restoring a deleted relationship: How do I restore a deleted relationship in Family Tree?; which directs you to select All Changes that then, for each child, use the Restore button that appears to the right of the change information.
Either of the processes that I mention are most easily done if you have the ID number of each of the children. If you do not have that information, let me suggest that you use the Beta version of FamilySearch, where you should be able to see the children still attached to their parents. Note that the beta version is not the official or operations version of FamilySearch that we normally use, but is more of a sandbox for engineers to use. For more information, I suggest that you review the article, How do I use the beta version of FamilySearch?
You should find Malissa's family, including siblings and their IDs, at https://beta.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/KGMH-1K5
Please note that you will be required to log into beta.familysearch just as you would do with the normal FamilySearch that you are used to.
Hopefully, this will help you to restore or rebuild your family. I wish you success as you do so.1
How I would re-attach the siblings is I would scroll through their father's change log in one window, and cut and paste the PIDs of all the siblings from there to add children to him in another window. It is a few minutes' work.0
Thank you all for your suggestions! I will be adding things back.0
Hope the article suggested in the last posting fully answered your question.
This issue often generates questions, and these may have been answered previously. Just a tip to save you some time......before posting a question, it may be helpful to you to check if this topic has been addressed previously - You can add keywords (in this case 'incorrect changes' or 'restore information' ) to the search bar, and other similarly themed questions will appear and may provide you with a quicker answer.
Hope this helps.0
