Sealings records question
TITL film#458348 Sealings for the dead, couples and children (includes some living spouses and children), 1956-1970
DATA
TEXT Julius Adolf Thamm Male Event(s): Birth: 23 SEP 1845 Wormditt, Ostpreussen, Preussen
Christening:
Death: 27 MAY 1947
Burial: Parents: Father: Julius Petrus Johann Thamm
Mother: Wilhelmine Amalie Eckert
Is there any way to find out if there is a death location or other information in this record or even a source for the death date? I'm unable to find this ancestor EXCEPT his baptism in Wormditt. No marriage, no death, not even possibles ANYWHERE (not just Germany) and I've been having pretty good luck with other siblings and Thamm lines there.
Wasn't sure where to ask this, but it does include sealing info and request.
thanks so much, Lisa

It appears from tree submissions here on FamilySearch and others on the Internet - you are attached to all these submissions - so a most active researcher on this line. I have similar questions on my lines for which I have no good responses yet. I could not locate any new information for you - consulting a 'curosory' search on the Internet. I am guessing you may be asking this question after a day at the FHL in Salt Lake City. Generally, what I have been told when asking these type of questions is to 'shore up' research on all relations of persons connecting in the tree. I suppose you do not have relationship information for Julius Adolf - beside birth parents and it sounds like siblings. None of these other records I suppose are mentioning Julius - so where does the 27 May 1947 death date come from?
It appears that Julius brother - Emil Andreas Thamm (1842-1932) might be the place to concentract effort in locating a record possibly mentioning Julius. Do you have Emil's obituary - possibly mentioning his surviving brother/location? From what I see on findagrave - https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/64733992/emil-andreas-thamm
it does not mention his brother - perhaps living descendants have correspondence?
As far as the specific film you mention - I cannot locate it. It is not a new suggestion - I am sure - but perhaps a consultation with someone from the Library may help?
I hope you find your ancestors records!

Hello, thank you for your reply. I actually have this family back into 1600's, but am still verifying via actual documents:
my earliest ancestor on our THAMM line.
B:ABT 1654 of Kalkstein, East Prussia, Germany
D:1693
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/143826 (link to that film set) then scroll down to 458348 .
Never been to SLC unfortunately. i HAVE ALOT!! on Emil he was my adoptive dads grandfather and I've been attaching images to him and other family ;) I believe I made or added to his findagrave too ( yes, it was created by someone else then transferred to me). He and his brother Waldemar Felix Joseph Thamm both immigrated to the USA. I do have Emil's obituary, but guess I haven't added it to my tree as yet, oops!
That 27 May 1947 date came from old IGI submissions where I found it years ago. There was a Bruno Wermter (possibly LDS?) who added alot of the info on my lines and probably others there in East Prussia, I'm not sure now that he added this specific info but possibly.
this is from "my" familysearch tree but my main tree is on Ancestry and I'm trying to update my FS tree and adding documents and images.
Sadly all of the female siblings (except maybe the last) all were born and died as babies or very young in Wormditt.
Thank you for your reply, what ancestors are you having trouble with , you mentioned "similar questions" ??

I had tried searching the IGI (change collection to IGI - otherwise it finds your submitted trees) and did not locate a record for Julius. If you search the genealogies for just his name and mother's last name Eckert - this results in several trees that do appear to be IGI submissions but do not reference a clear user name that submitted them - unknown.... is not too helpful. I do not know whether an IGI batch number would get you any further with FamilySearch records. The ones referencing death date appear to list IGI as the source but IGI back then was a large pot of indexed records - no idea where it would have been from.
I did locate the film # you reference:
It is a little unclear as to whether it is available at FHL in Salt Lake but it appears to be. I do not know if the lookup service can help you with searching the film for death information for Julius but I would give contacting them a shot too in addition to the virtual consultation I referenced above:
As far as my tree ancestors with research difficulties - I have a brick wall in North Carolina about 1790s timeframe and another in Cork, Ireland about 1800. Both brick walls seem to be a result of lack of surviving records for the area around that timeframe - hopefully one day some records will be found, etc. In the meantime I try to check back every so often...
Thank you and good luck!

Sorry, perhaps that didn't come from the IGI and I added it later ..... Will have to try to look back in my old files, I had to replace my computer several years ago.
I will try the lookups you suggested, thanks!
Yes, I know how that goes when the records run out..... ugh!! and of course those are the very ones we all need.
Thanks again!

WELL, this is crazy, maybe all records aren't moved over to the new IGI database because now I'm not finding them and have a long list copied from the OLD IGI database....
spooks I guess.
