Ordinances NOT ready?

When I selected sealings on ordinances ready, I was given a list of ten names of children to seal to their parents. All of the children had received the ordinances necessary to proceed to that point. But when I checked, in every case, at least one of the parents had NOT had the work done to be ready for that sealing. This has been the case ever since the ordinances ready function began. Should we go ahead and seal these children to their parents? The same problem exists in the couple sealings. One or both partners might not have had their preparatory work completed and still they are showing up as ready for sealing. Right now, with covid, the only ordinance my group can get scheduled for (at least through the end of the year) is sealings. We could easily do these sealings, but should we? On the other hand, people who don't know enough to check are doing them anyway. How do I handle this?

A child-to-parents sealing can be performed even if the parents’ individual work and sealing to each other has not been completed. The ordinance is valid, but it becomes effective only after the prerequisite ordinances for the parents are completed.
Here is an article to help explain this policy:

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ]
This is an ongoing dilemma, for many Members of the Church.
The matter, has been canvased, on numerous occasions, in the various 'iterations' for the 'FamilySearch' Forums.
One does not really have to be too concerned ...
Really, the choice is yours, whether or not, to do the "Temple" Work of "Sealing to Spouse" that OrdinanceReady" provides.
'Yes', you can proceed, with the "Temple" Work of "Sealing to Spouse" that OrdinanceReady" provides.
[ If you so desire; but, of course, you DO NOT have to, if you do not want to. ]
As an aside ...
One does not really have to be too concerned ...
We have been advised, that regardless if "Ordinances" are done 'Out of Sequence', not to worry; as, those "Ordinances" that are done 'Out of Sequence' simply DO NOT take effect, UNTIL the prerequisite "Ordinances" are "Completed".
And, most importantly ...
"Ordinances" that are done 'Out of Sequence' DO NOT have to be done again; as, they are STILL "Valid".
Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':
Ordinances performed out of order
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/ordinances-performed-out-of-order
Which states, among other things:
Quote
------------------
Vicarious ordinances performed out of sequence are valid, but they become effective only after the prerequisite ordinances are completed.
------------------
And ...
Correct order of temple ordinances
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/correct-order-of-temple-ordinances
Which states, among other things:
Quote
------------------
Although vicarious ordinances performed out of sequence are valid, they become effective only after the prerequisite ordinances are completed.
------------------
And ...
Of course ...
Why are the temple ordinance dates out of order in Family Tree?
Where it states, among other things:
Quote
------------------
- The ordinances were inadvertently or intentionally performed out of order in error.
------------------
Plus ...
Most IMPORTANTLY ...
In one of the aforementioned "Knowledge Article":
Ordinances performed out of order
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/ordinances-performed-out-of-order
Which states, among other things:
Quote
------------------
It is preferable to have the ordinances done in sequence
[ Note: The Words ... It is preferable ]
------------------
And ...
In the other of the aforementioned "Knowledge Article":
Correct order of temple ordinances
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/correct-order-of-temple-ordinances
It also states, among other things:
Quote
------------------
The FamilySearch Family Tree website does not clear ordinances if prerequisite ordinances have not been cleared or performed.
[ And ]
- Sealing of a husband and wife and sealing of children to parents (if possible). Whenever possible, parents should be sealed to each other before the children are sealed to the parents.
[ Note: The Words ... Whenever possible ]
------------------
So, basically ...
Do not be too concerned ...
'Yes', you can proceed, with the "Temple" Work of "Sealing to Spouse" that OrdinanceReady" provides.
[ If you so desire; but, of course, you DO NOT have to, if you do not want to. ]
The choice is yours.
Likewise ...
For the "Sealing to Parents" for a Child ...
Remember, that the "Temple" Work, relates to the Child; and, NOT, the to Parents.
So ...
That Said ...
Regardless, of the status, of "Temple" Work of the Parents, the "Sealing to Parents" for a Child CAN be undertaken.
I know that this might not give you comfort and address your concerns; but, I hope that this gives you some more, insight; and, perspective.

@DMS1737 It seems that if the software had a minor change, when Cindy Shipley uses Ordinances Ready and selects Sealing to Parents (SP) or Sealing to Spouse (SS) to find ordinances that are actually READY, she would get some that are ready.
I've had the same frustration because when I use Ordinances Ready, the software first looks though my own temple reservation list. Most of ancestors are not ready because of lack of parents' or spouses' ordinances.
It seems that the software to prevent this problem is already written. The reason I think so is because of the WAITING filter on the temple reservations list. Couldn't those lines of code be placed appropriately to prevent patrons from receiving ordinances that are not ready?

So it's valid and acceptable but they'd rather we didn't? That doesn't give very clear direction. Should I avoid doing those sealings, or just do them because that's what I have the opportunity for right now

Thanks Brett for your valuable resources. I guess I've come to the conclusion that since because of covid most of the time sealing is what is available, I will do sealings, prioritizing the ones that have the preparatory work done. When I have done all I can, I will do the rest, hoping that the opportunity to do more initiatory work and endowments opens up in the future. Thanks again for posting all the good articles explaining this.
