Ella Wieneke G8VQ-GZW
On the US Federal Census 1910 she is listed as a MALE. There doesn't seem to be a way to change or edit that information. She is listed as a FEMALE on her person page -- she is just listed as a MALE on the census. Can anyone fix this? TIA
Unfortunately this happens from time to time. We cannot change what was originally written on a census record, but you can put in good notes and write her a history. We can see that she may have a duplicate in the system, GSX3-53X. You can also create a life sketch. If you have a indexed record sometimes you can edit the indexed record, but if not, good notes! History, pictures all very helpful.1
Here is where you can enter comments in the Life Sketch so people looking at her Person Page will easily see that an error was made in the census.
This happens very often and in my experience needs no explanation unless the name is gender-neutral, which is not the case with Ella.
Simply find and attach more historical records for the family.
Edit to add: If explanation is needed then you can point out the enumerator who recorded her sex as M also recorded she was mother of 2 children, 1 living.0
