maiden name vs surname
Batch M36L BGH of Wisconsin marriage records has me totally confused. Please look at the name of the bride and tell me what is a maiden name and what is a surname. Several people have asked this question and the answers are not in harmony with each answer.
MaryAnne, The Project Instructions say: Index names in the maiden name fields only if the record specifically refers to them as maiden or birth names.
On the first image you posted in this batch M36L-BGH, below the name of the typed name of the bride but above the signatures, on the right hand side, it says, "Maiden name of Bride". That line is blank. So the Given name is Norma F Maiden name <blank>, Surname is Pohley. This the way it is shown on Example 1 of the instructions. There is no maiden name for listed for either the male or spouse. The male maiden name will almost always be <Blank>. Perhaps we need clarification from the project managers.
This was the answer we were given several months ago in the old chat platform.0
