Proxy Ordinances for Living
Great Uncle (Maternal grandmother's brother)
Charles Dancil Gosnell
K84C-XVB
Birth: 12 August 1925
Death: 28 January 2020
My great uncle "Dan" (Charles Dancil Gosnell) was born in South Carolina in 1925 and died in Hopewell, VA in January 2020. He was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church as a boy in 1935. He stopped going to church after he left home. He did not perform any other ordinances for himself while he was alive.
This week I looked at his Family Search account and saw that his death date was incorrectly put in as 1935. I believe someone found his record in Family Search back in 2009 and did initiatory ordinances and endowment ordinances and sealing to his first wife, 11 years before he actually died! My uncles and aunt and mom would like to do his temple work.
We don't believe these proxy ordinances are valid, since they were done while he was still living.
Today I corrected his death date and attached the obituary to his record to document his actual death date. I will continue to work on this and try to find records for his marriage dates and draft/military service cards etc... to contiune to document his life.
Please let me know what we can do to correct the information and how we go about bringing his name to the temple so his work can be properly done.
Thank you!!!

Looked at the ID# and the dates of proxy ordinances were completed before the person died. The patron explains this person was never an active church member and did not go to the temple. Forwarded the case to the next Dept.

When entering my husband's grandmother's information to do her work, we discovered that her work had been done in 2001. But she did not die until 2008.
Name: Ida Mae Bemis
ID#: L7JQ-N46
Birthdate:13 Oct 1914
Deathdate: 21 Oct 2008
We do have a copy of her death certificate. Here is a picture of it. (This is the only way I could send it on this computer.)
How do I get her ordinances removed so that we can do her work?
Thanks, Marlene Goodrich

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
Please be aware that ...
You have added your "Request" for HELP onto (ie. on Top of) another User's/Patron's "Request" for HELP.
In this "Community/FamilySearch" Forum ...
It is ALWAYS "Best" to submit "Requests" for HELP, of this nature; as, separate individual posts, not conflated with OTHER such "Requests" for HELP.
As, each "Request" for HELP, of this nature, NEEDS to be handled separately from one another.
As such ...
Can I humbly suggest that you consider RESUMBITTING this post (ie. "Request" for HELP), of yours; as, a SEPARATE matter, such the matter can be handled separately, in its own right.
And, of course, in this same 'Category' pf "Temple", in this same "Q and A" Section, of this Forum.

FYI
Just for information ...
Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':
My ancestor's ordinances were performed out of order during his or her lifetime
And ...
I found proxy ordinances that were done for a living person
And ...
When do temple ordinances need to be performed again?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/when-ordinances-need-to-be-performed-again
Where it states, among other things:
Quote:
------------------
- Proxy ordinances were performed in error while the individual was still living.
- Proxy ordinances were performed before the 1-year anniversary of the individual's death.
[ But, in regards to the latter, there is a caveat; where, such is permissible ... ]

I hope this helps.
