Can't attach family tree to Read-Only Ancestor with living descendants

My grandmother’s record is read only (Donna Smith KWJ8-7SY).

All of her children are still living. Many of her great grandchildren cannot link to her in their family tree because they would have to link through a living parent. I am trying to help them link to their Great Grandmother. Can you help us get them linked to that ancestor?

Possible ideas:

1) have each of them request to have their living record of their grandparent (son or daughter of Donna Smith) attached to the read only record of Donna Smith?

2) Change Donna Smith to no longer Read-Only so her living children can make changes and her descendants can connect to her in their personal trees?

3) any other way to accomplish this?

(I was told I need to post this type of request here instead of the chat or old method of opening up a case, so I hope that is correct).
