I am indexing batch M3WY-C8X
I am wondering if the Lighting Company listed on first entry is the Grantee for each of the items. There are no dittos under the name just as there is not a book number listed until it appears to be a new book. Should each Grantee entry be marked as blank and each book not specified listed as blank with just a page number

@Candy Kammerman It appears from Project Instructions that you should enter 'Long Island Lighting Co' in the 'Grantee Corporation or Organization Name *' column and enter <BLANK> in ALL the other Grantee columns (Grantee's Prefix *, Grantee's Given Names *, Grantee's Surname *).
The Instructions also state:
- Index each unique name. Some names may be duplicated. When names in the grantee and grantor columns are exact duplicates, index only the first instance of the names listed. Skip the other exact duplicates and then index the next unique name. Unique names include names with different middle initials, spouses listed with the individual, and different name spellings.
I take this to mean 'Long Island Lighting Co' IS the ONLY Grantee in this batch so it should be entered in the first entry in the 'Grantee Corporation or Organization Name *' column and NOT duplicated throughout the index.

Project Instructions do say to index each unique name. Unique names include names with different middle initials, spouses listed with the individual, and different name spellings. They do not make the same reference to corporations such as Long Island Lighting Co. It should be repeated in each entry under Grantee Corporation and listed with each new name. The first name is Mae E Shea book number 906 page number 356. The book number will be repeated for each of the entries down to the name Hayden when book number 913 and page number 1 begin. Not all clerks put ditto marks. Control D or Command D are your best friends on a project like this. You might want to hold this for further comments.
Also a word of caution, there is at least one Mrs. on the page (Hayden) that will go in the Grantor's prefix box.
