I was only able to find two indexing projects in the U.S. One was for Norwegian records, the other Swedish. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi Doug,

When you sign into Indexing then Web indexing, your My Batch screen will come up. Click on the blue box that says "Find Batch" and the list will populate for you. There are several US projects to do--Virginia marriages, US Business and City Directories, etc.

    Hope this helps! Happy indexing!

Great answer Allison! That's how I always do it. I'm including some additional information for others who may view this question and are more detailed oriented.

    1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
    2. In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click Indexing.
    3. In the drop-down menu, click Web Indexing.
      • Note: You can click Find a Project to find batches, but this is a different pathway and you do not see all of the same options as when you click Web Indexing.
    4. On the My Batches panel, click Find Batches.
    5. Search for the type of batch that you want to find. You can use these options to search, sort, and filter the available batches:
      • Search field: Enter keywords to find the project you want to work on.
      • All or Favorites: Select whether you want to see all projects that are available or just see the ones you marked as favorites.
      • Difficulty level: Choose how easy or difficult the project is.
      • Language: Choose the language of the project.
      • Sort by: Change the order in which you see projects.
      • Batches to check out: Indicate the number of batches you want.
    6. (Optional) When you find a project that you like, click the star icon above the Index button to mark it as a favorite.
    7. When you find a project you want to work on, click the Index or Review button.
    8. If you receive a batch that someone else returned incomplete, a message appears to let you know that some work on the batch may be completed. Click OK to open the batch.

Never click on Find A Project. Just follow Grandma Gina's outline and you will have so many possibilities!

Thanks everyone. I’m going to print Grandma Gina’s outline for future reference. Super helpful as were all of your answers, confirming that I’m not crazy (at least this time :)) and opening my eyes to the amazing help available from this community as this is the first time I’ve used this resource.
