The company Living DNA has recently announced their One Family One World Project. Their intent is to map the entire world’s DNA and build a worldwide genetic family tree. the project will look at modern family makeup as well as ancient linkages to learn more about modern and ancient migration. People who have DNA test results from Ancestry and Family Tree DNA can upload their data to the One World Family Tree project for free.
Individuals who participate in the project will receive information about their ancestry and be matched with those who the same ancestry. Living DNA currently groups ancestry into 80 areas or regions of the world with 21 areas just in Britain.
An interesting aspect of this project is the list of partners which include:

- Vanderbilt University
- University of Texas
- University of Utah
- University of Copenhagen
- University of Iceland
- University of Sydney

Do all four grandparents need to come from the area of the project you join?

That is not required but if they did all come from the same place and lived there for a few generations then you will get extra consideration. When they started a few years ago it was required but now it is just a bonus.
