This is for recent people, not medieval period of time. Ordinances Ready feature keeps giving me men and women who were never married, and I don't want to do them. Any advice as to my predicament?

    Hi @Kaye

You have asked about current policy regarding whether individuals who had a child together but were never married show be sealed as a couple. Please review the following knowledge article which is found in our Help Center for those who have member accounts. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/policy-on-sealing-a-deceased-couple-that-were-never-married-nor-ever-lived-together

If you are curious about how you can prevent a couple from being sealed when this is the situation, this additional instruction will be a helpful suggestion. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-prevent-a-sealing-from-being-available-if-a-couple-never-married-but-had-a-child-together

Basically, please just be sure to delete any relationship that exists for the couple if you do not wish to have a SS ordinances available for them. Because children can be sealed to other parent-child relationships, they will still qualify for SP as other relationships are provided.

Can an unmarried couple who lived together and had children be sealed in the temple and have their offspring sealed to them?

@InnesAndrewWilliamJames1, I am assuming you are asking about Proxy work for deceased persons, your question is answered in the first article that @CDBurk has in his comment above.

Click the little pencil icon in the couple relationship box in the Family Members Section

Then under Relationship Events, click “+Add Event”

Then Click the drop down arrow in the Marriage box,

Then choose between:  Common Law Marriage;  Lived Together or  Marriage
