Georgia Tax records

I have a batch of Georgia tax records that lists Employer and Freedmen (employees). Does it matter what order I do the indexing? The Employer is at the left of the record, and their employees (typically 4 to 5) are listed to the right of the employer. Should I index each Employer/Employees, then move down to the next group, or some other way?

Thanks!

As a reviewer, I suggest keeping them in sets with the Employer and then the Freedmen. That seems more logical than a list of employers followed by a list of freedmen. However, order does not matter anymore in indexing. Do what makes you happy.

It doesn’t matter, as others have mentioned, but doing it as Melissa suggested is actually following the letter of the guidance in the following knowledge article.

How should I index records with multiple pages?

When multiple pages or records appear in one image, index the records in the order they were written, if that can be determined. Otherwise, index from top to bottom and left to right, as if reading a book.

Note: In web indexing, the order of indexing is not as important as it once was. However, this method is still preferred.

Thanks for the guidance. I appreciate you all being on top of these kinds of records.
