listing all persons on document

Hi,

When I have received and entered information from birth, marriage, death transcriptions, I usually just enter the name or marriage groom and bride names to record on side so the document then copies to other person in marriage for example.

My question is should i list all names on that document so the marriage document for example would then appear as a copy under the bride and groom parents as well?

Hope i have made it clear enough question.

Many thanks

Denis

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

Provided, that you are referring, to "Family Tree" ; and, NOT, "Indexing" (of 'FamilySearch') ...

Question: Are you referring to either, (1) "Sources"; or, (2) "Documents" that you have received/access to?

IF, you are referring to "Sources" in 'FamilySearch', that you are attaching through the "Source Linker" in 'FamilySearch'; THEN, 'Yes', you certainly attached the "Source" to the Parents (and, other immediate Family members) - if they already exist; or, create the Parents (and, other immediate Family members), if they DO NOT already exist in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    Whereas ...

    very much the same/similar ...

IF, you are referring to "Documents" that you have received/access to; THEN, 'Yes', you certainly create the Parents (and, other immediate Family members), in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; but, ONLY if they DO NOT, already exist in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

Of course, you DO NOT need to include the, "Marriage Celebrant" or "Witnesses"; UNLESS, of course, they ARE, in fact, related Family members (of the Bride and Groom).

    I hope this helps.

ps: "indexing" is another matter entirely.

That is what this "Community.FamilySearch' Forum was originally established for ...

    Users/Patrons, HELPING / ASSISTING, Users/Patrons ...

And, this "Community.FamilySearch' Forum, has been successfully operating, that way, for a number of Years now.

'Yes' ... 'fact', is often much different to (and, much more 'revealing' than) 'fiction' (ie. Family 'Stories') ...

    Hi Brett,

Thank you for your response, yes makes sense to have the document available under all family names, just wanted to make sure before I had hundreds of documents spread everywhere.

I have started from present day and ordered birth death and marriage transcriptions for everyone in my line so it is all fact and not guess work and surprising what comes out of these documents compared to what some people have told me or written down.

All the best with your research.

    Denis
