Reichenbach and Frutigen, Bern, artist/painter Rudolph Von Känel
Hoping someone might have information about this artist who was born in Reichenbach in abut 1850 and married Sophia Schütz. I have information about his children but would like to learn about his life and work if possible. Any suggestions about where to find information about him as an artist would be appreciated.

In the meantime I had a look at the Reichenbach baptismal records - which fortunately include a name index. The most plausible Rudolph would be born 19.11. and baptised 14.12.1851. I have published that on https://www.geneal-forum.com/phpbb/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=4007&start=90#p120175 and asked whether anyone knew this Rudolph and had information about his activities.

In the forum the following question came up: what is the source for Rudolf von Känel being an artist painter, not just a house painter (decorator)? In the newspaper cuttings (see the forum) he is only mentioned as "Maler" - which could be both. An artist painter would often be mentioned as "Kunstmaler".
