Chome Extension to Compete in Indexing
We're looking to create a Google Chrome extension that would add functionally to FamilySearch.
Specifically, we would want it to...
- Integrate apps from the BYU Family History Technology Lab directly into FamilySearch to make them easier to access and use.
- Allow users to compete with friends in Indexing records.
- Keep a daily streak for Indexing to motivate users to index every day.
- Implement new features on top of FamilySearch's functionality
Please comment below on your thoughts or concerns about this.
Do you think people would download it? (It would be free.)

Hm ...
As an aside ...
WHY on earth would anyone at "BYU Family History Technology Lab" even consider wanting to introduce "Competition" in "Indexing" ...
The notion of "Competition" in "Indexing" is just WRONG ...
Regardless; or, should I say, especially, with a "Friend" (or, for that matter, ANYONE ...
WHY do you want to promote "Quantity" ...
[ In any, way; shape; or, form ... ]
"Indexing" is NOT about "Quantity".
"Indexing" is about QUALITY.
Rather than promoting a "Competition" in "Indexing", why not, try, to devise a way (a programme) of promoting QUALITY in "indexing".
I am sorry ... 'off my soap box' ... the notion of "Competition" in "Indexing" is a 'pet peeve' of mine ...
Too MANY Ward/Branches/Stakes/Districts seem to just want to have/hold, "Competitions"; or, "Challenges", in regard to "Indexing", focusing on "Quantity"; instead of, simply promoting QUALITY.
Just my thoughts.
Brett
ps: I would rather see (LESS) "Indexed" Records that were of Good QUALITY, rather than simply a lot of "Indexed" Records that are of POOR Quality.
