When I add a spouse and find a match, the attached spouse now has 2 copies of the partner. Example,

@JohnOtt1, Since you know the IDs for both of the people you can go to one of them and under tools click on Merge by ID. You can then enter the ID of the second person and review them so they can be merged.
I am a Temple and Family History Consultant in both my ward and stake and I have used this the merge tool this way many times.

Thanks for the response for merging. However, I was looking at indexing for information on adding source information to to my additions and corrections. I have only been actively engaged with familysearch.org for a couple of months. However, I have been using the data sources for over 40 years, beginning with the library and microfilm about 1975. When I could no longer update my online file on Ancestry, I decided to switch to the familysearch.org database. All of my postings have one or often several sources. Some of my older sources are not currently available on line: i.e. card files in county court houses, and newspapers not available on line. Wanted to find out how to attach those sources. Is indexing the proper place to go for info?

No, Indexing Chat is not the best place to ask questions about using Family Tree, the FamilySearch Family Tree group is the best place to ask those questions.
Indexing is the process of creating a database (an index if you will) that can be searched with a computer to locate the digital images of records.
If you have copies of the documents that you want to attach to your deceased relatives I believe that you can scan them and upload them to attach them. The members of the FamilySearch Family Tree group will be able to answer any questions that you have about how to do that.

If a source is not available online, you can create a source in FS and attach it to the persons it applies to in the FSFT. In this case you would have to manually enter the normal source information into your new source. If you have actual documents or pictures, you can upload them to your memories area and create a source using them.
When you go to add a source into someone's source list, you have the choice as to how you want to add it:
If you are going to use the source for more than one person, you might want to create it in your source box instead and then add it to the appropriate person records (as shown above) later on:
Note that the creation of simple sources and memory based sources is handled in both places but they just look different.

You can do a merge. If you go to the help centre and ask how to do a merge with IDs it will give you instructions on how to do this.

Thanks for the many answers. My problem was old age and habit. For the some 40+ years that I have been online and writing computer software, I have never seen a tool that was not located on one of many bars at the top of the page. While I had noticed the help and changer information on the righthand side of the page, I had not scrolled down far enough to find the tool box. Everything is now under control. Bye the way, thanks for all of the effort your people have put into the genealogical effort. I first used your library and microfilm readers in the early 1980's, then online before 2000, I believe. this is the first time that I have tried to contribute to your common data base.
