The residents of northern Luzerne County voted 9 to 1 in favor of the establishment of a new county on August 13, 1878. Governor John F. Hartranft signed a proclamation officially declaring Lackawanna County the 67th coun

I have a relative who was born 1874 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

 

Lackawanna County was not formed until **1878**.

 

Only option to standardize place name is Scranton, **Lackawnna**, Pennsylvania.

Should be Scranton, **Luzerne**, Pennsylvania due to time of event.
