Transcription and translation, please - Alswede PR
Love it when the priest puts in the relationship to the child/parents of child in the christening record! Could you please correct/add to my transcription and then translate for me? It's the entry highlighted in green.
Thank you!

Unfortunately I can't help much here:
[child] Anna Margarit
Ernst (I am not sure about the first name, looks to me like "Ebernt") Wissbrokers und seiner frauen ehliche kindt gehoren beijde eigen in die Hüffe [farm where many in this family work]
Gefattern Adam Poleman Catharinam Viduam Cordt Schepers Gretken Syben ___t sorer matris.

Thank you Ulrich. The first name, I believe, is Ernst. As far as the translation goes, I'd like to know if the sponsors are:
Adam Poleman, Catharinam Viduam - meaning Catharinam is the widow of Adam Poleman?
Cordt Schepers
Gretken Syben ____t sorer matris - meaning Gretken Syben is the mother's sister?

Hello Jenny,
The Latin construction in this record is rather strange. Catharinam viduam is actually an accusative case, not clear to me why. Her name is Catharina and she is a widow (vidua), but if she was Adam's widow it should read "Adami Polemani vidua Catharina".
The last words in the record are "soror matris", meaning as you correctly infer "the mother's sister". I can't interpret the letters/words before (after "Syben"), so I am not fully sure about the connection to Gretken Syben, but it seems most probably referring to her.
Do you have another source confirming the first name "Ernst"?

Thank you. I will need to track down Adam Poleman (Pohlman) to see if I can find a marriage for him as well as a burial.
I do have more references to Ernst Wissbrokers as a father to his children's christenings:
Johan Ernst chr 1646
Moritz chr 1648
Curdt chr 1649
Anna Margrit chr 1656
An Ilsab chr 1661
Male child chr 1665
Lulff chr 1668
So far, this family appears to be part of my direct line ancestors:)
Again, thank you for your continued help in finding them!
Jenny
