Searching for 3rd great grandpa
My 2nd great grandpa is J. Law. The Law family disowned him but I don't know which one was his father. In the meantime, the Cran family claims J. Law is the son of L. Cran. Both the Cran descendants and the Law descendants have a common ancestor in J. Wilson. How do I figure out my DNA matches to figure out if J was a Law or a Cran?

The answer might be found in the female lines, along with DNA, but I'm not clear on the relationships and this may be on the edge of capabilities for autosomal DNA evaluation. Are there older family members living that could be tested? Is there a direct male line descendant of J. Law that could be Y-DNA tested? What country did J. Law live in?
