Stasi documents about my father of East Germany.
I received Stasi documents about my father when he lived in East Germany. I can't read it at all. I was wondering if someone could tell me what it says. They gave him a code name of "josef", although he never cooperated with them. Thanks!

Here is my translation. GI means "geheimer Informator" (secret informant), GM is "geheimer Mitarbeiter" (secret employee).
Course of the meeting:
At today's meeting with G.I. "Josef" he explained to me, in response to my question about the requested study plans of the G.F.V., that he could not give me anything in writing. He had discussed it with the leader Burkhardt and they had come to an agreement that I could officially request in writing all the material I needed about their church. To my reproaches that he was not allowed to speak about our connection, he replied, "I could not reconcile it with my conscience". About the work in the G.F.K. he spoke only in general terms; with further questions he referred me to his church leadership. Despite his talk about our working together, a new meeting was arranged with him.

Unenthusiastic about further cooperation.

No task was given to the G.I. because he needs to be talked to again in depth first.

Thank you very much Ulrich! I couldn't make out hardly any handwritten words. Thank you for your time. Just a side note, we have a lot of Neitzel relatives from Wisconsin who married into our Habeck family line back in the early 1900's. I'm not sure where they came from in Germany though.

Hi Jared,
All Neitzels and Habecks ultimately come from Pomerania, that part of the German Reich that is now Northwest Poland, see map below. I too have relatives who went to Wisconsin in the 1860s and later moved on to Minnesota.
