Hi, so I am not sure if this is the right place to discuss this, but I was looking for some help in finding what my last name means. My last name is Notheisen. For some reason there is no informantion on my last name at family search or ancestry. Thanks so much.

    Hello Nathaniel,

    I can't give you an explanation of the meaning of "Notheisen" other than it contains two German words: Noth = neediness, distress and Eisen = iron.

    The name is really rare in Germany and historically concentrated to a small area in Baden in the southwest of Germany, specifically to the community of Hambrücken (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hambr%C3%BCcken), see name distribution map: https://nvk.genealogy.net/map/1996:notheisen:
