Help with translation of profession?
On this birth record, I'm confused about the profession of the father, Daniel Eiche. This is from Trier, Germany in 1818. Our family said he was a cadet in the military. Thanks for any help!

Hello Lori,
I read the given profession as Feldweber im 20t Inf. Reg. which is a bit strange as the military rank usually is called Feldwebel (with "l" at the end)., see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feldwebel
So, if this is just a misspelling the profession would translate as "sergeant in the 20th infantry regiment".

Terrific, this also seems consistent with family stories that said he had a non-noble officer rank. Thank you for your help!
